A 41-year-old Wisconsin man was sentenced to prison after fatally beating a woman while released on bond in a separate strangulation case, court records show.
Andrew Michael Nauman, 41, was sentenced following the fatal October 2024 attack in Sparta, Wisconsin, according to court records.
On October 6, 2024, around 8:50 a.m., authorities responded to the 100 block of West Oak Street in Sparta for a woman suffering from life-threatening injuries, police said.
Officers found 35-year-old Ticarra Danelle Manning critically injured inside the residence, according to authorities.
She was airlifted to a trauma center with massive bleeding and swelling in her brain, officials said. She remained hospitalized for 11 days before dying on October 17, 2024, authorities said.
Investigators identified Nauman as the person responsible for her injuries, police said.
The defendant initially told investigators he found Manning lying at the bottom of a staircase, according to court documents. He claimed she had been there for approximately 10 minutes before he moved her upstairs and placed her on the floor, records show.
When questioned about why he did not immediately call for help, the accused reportedly said he was scared and did not know what to do, according to police.
Investigators also recovered a knife with blood on it near the kitchen sink, court documents state.

Nauman was arrested while Manning was still alive and initially faced charges including attempted first-degree intentional homicide, prosecutors said. The case was upgraded to homicide after she died, records show.
The defendant was then charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Manning’s death and held on a $1 million cash bond, according to court records.
At the time of Manning’s death, Nauman was already facing a separate criminal case involving another woman, records show.
In June 2024, approximately four months before Manning was attacked, he had been charged with strangulation and suffocation, battery and disorderly conduct, court documents state. He had been released in that case on a $2,500 signature bond, records show.
Following Manning’s death, her family said the woman involved in Nauman’s previous case contacted them.
The accused later entered pleas of not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, court records show. He subsequently withdrew those pleas, according to filings.
On July 16, 2026, Nauman pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide and strangulation and suffocation, court documents state.
On September 17, 2026, the defendant was sentenced in connection with Manning’s death and the separate criminal case involving the other woman, records show.
He was ordered to serve 26 years of initial confinement followed by 17 years of extended supervision, according to court records.
Nauman was also ordered to pay $6,345.58 in restitution, court documents state.
