A Florida mother and her adult son were arrested on incest charges after officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at their home, police said.
Christina Clemens, 46, and Shane Clemens, 22, were taken into custody in Polk County, according to authorities.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd detailed the investigation in a video shared via social media on Tuesday, September 15, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies were initially dispatched to the family’s home over a “domestic violence event” between the pair, Judd said. The mother had called police claiming her son had attacked her.
Sheriff Judd addressed the battery allegation during the video release, authorities said.
“Shane, you ought not to ever lay a hand on your mama for a lot of reasons, but you have one more reason why you shouldn’t,” Judd said.
The case developed further when the son allegedly made statements to responding officers regarding their history, according to the sheriff.
Shane Clemens allegedly told police that he had been having sex with his mother since he was 18 years old, Judd said.
Officers then confronted the mother regarding the claims made by her son, police said.
Christina Clemens allegedly told the officers that the pair had sex “only about 100 times,” according to Judd.

Investigators subsequently questioned Christina Clemens’ husband to ask whether he was aware of the alleged incest between his wife and Shane, Judd said.
“No, I absolutely was not. But I think I am a little suspicious that they used to go in the master bedroom and lock the door,” the husband said, according to Judd.
The husband added that he and his wife were “happily married,” the sheriff said.
Shane Clemens was booked into custody on August 21, inmate records show.
Christina Clemens was booked nearly one week later on August 27, according to the records.
The son was charged with one count of incest and one count of domestic violence battery, touch or strike, according to inmate records.
The mother was charged with one count of incest and one count of living in open adultery, according to the records.
Christina Clemens was held on a $5,250 bond covering both of her charges, jail records show.
Shane Clemens was being held without bond, according to inmate records.
It was not clear whether either defendant had entered a plea following their arrests, according to records.
