An Oklahoma mother faces 23 years in prison after jurors convicted her of child abuse against her young daughter, prosecutors said.

Jacqueline Rodriguez, 30, was found guilty on September 2.
The victim, now 6, testified at the trial after previously telling an interviewer her mom “did not love her that day.”
At age 4, the child demonstrated how Rodriguez hit her in the stomach, records show.
She also reported that her mother’s boyfriend hit her and hurt her arm, adding that she did not feel safe with him.
Her injuries required emergency surgery and the placement of a chest tube. She spent one week at OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Doctors found a lacerated spleen, a collapsed lung, a broken left elbow, and torn tissue inside her mouth.
Heavy bruising covered her back, with more bruising and swelling found on her face, arms, and legs.
The boyfriend, Brayan Camarillo Padierna, pleaded guilty to child abuse in December 2025. He received a 25-year sentence, with the first 15 years to serve in prison.
Jurors recommended 23 years in prison for Rodriguez following the verdict. Her attorney says she maintains her innocence.
The girl is now growing up in a safe, loving environment, the prosecutor said.
Rodriguez remains jailed awaiting formal sentencing on October 15.
