“I CAN TAKE CARE OF THEM”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY 35-YEAR-OLD DESIREE NICOLE POHLMANN LEFT FIVE CHILDREN IN A FILTHY ONE-BEDROOM APARTMENT MONTHS AFTER REGAINING CUSTODY… AND SHE HAS NOW BEEN ARRESTED ON ABUSE CHARGES.

A 35-year-old Kentucky mother has been arrested after five children were discovered living in deplorable conditions, according to police.
Desiree Nicole Pohlmann is facing multiple charges of criminal abuse.
She is also facing charges of endangering the welfare of a minor.
The children found in the residence range in age from 9 months to 9 years old.
Lyndon police said officers were initially called to the area after receiving reports that some of the children had been left alone.
Officers later located the five children inside a one-bedroom apartment.
Pohlmann’s 76-year-old mother was inside the one-bedroom residence with them.
Authorities said the home lacked sufficient food for the children.
Authorities also stated that there was insufficient water inside the residence.
There was no working air conditioning in the apartment during extreme summer heat.
Mold was found inside the living space, authorities said.
Officers also observed old food on the apartment walls.
Authorities said feces and urine were present throughout the residence.
Police said the odor of human and animal urine was so strong that it could be smelled from outside.
The children were reportedly sleeping on the floor of the apartment.
But police said this was not the first time the children had been removed from her care.
According to police, the children had already been removed from Pohlmann’s care in April 2025 under “strikingly similar circumstances.”
Yet the children had been returned to her custody earlier this year.
According to the arrest citation, Jefferson County Family Court returned the children to Pohlmann’s custody this past March.
A Child Protective Services worker responded to the apartment alongside law enforcement.
That worker reportedly told officers the children were in the worst condition she had seen in years.
All five children were taken to a children’s hospital for treatment.
Responding Lyndon police officers also intervened to provide immediate assistance.
Police said officers used their own money to buy food for the children.
Pohlmann is charged, not convicted.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
