Fort Worth daycare sued after worker allegedly told son to attack 4-year-old — before sweeping the boy’s legs herself

A Fort Worth daycare worker allegedly told her own son to hit and kick a 4-year-old boy, according to a lawsuit.

The complaint identifies the worker as Chynia Johnson, an employee at Arka Montessori Academy of Risinger in Fort Worth, Texas.

Parents Heather and Richard Harris filed the lawsuit in September over an incident that occurred on April 27, according to court documents.

Another employee watched the incident unfold in the classroom without stepping in, the parents’ lawsuit says.

Classroom cameras recorded Johnson grabbing, shaking and shoving their son while the boy tried to get away, the complaint states.

Johnson then allegedly grabbed the child’s wrist and pulled his leg out from under him, sending him onto a hardwood floor, the lawsuit alleges.

When his mother arrived at the center, she found the boy crying uncontrollably, according to the lawsuit.

Johnson allegedly told her the boys had fought and claimed she had only separated them. Heather Harris demanded to see the classroom footage, the lawsuit states.

The family reported bruises, scratches and headaches from the encounter. They say raised voices and loud noises now frighten him, according to the filing.

At a new daycare, the child cried, clung to his parents and refused to enter the classroom. They eventually withdrew him from daycare altogether, the suit states.

State investigators cited the facility for prohibited punishment, including handling that bruised his arm and caused him to fall, records show.

Administrators also knew about earlier concerns involving Johnson yelling at children and handling them roughly, the lawsuit alleges.

The daycare had not responded to requests for comment when the reports were published.
