Massachusetts Mother Accused In Deaths Of Three Children Returns To Court As Deliberations Continue

Lindsay Clancy, 36, lived at a home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, according to records presented in court.

On Jan. 24, 2023, the mother allegedly strangled her three children at their Duxbury home, prosecutors said.

The children were identified as Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, according to court documents.

The jury was tasked with deciding whether the defendant should be held criminally responsible for the killings, according to court proceedings.

Reddington asked the panel to find the mother not guilty by reason of insanity based on the claim she was in the throes of severe postpartum psychosis, according to defense arguments. She carefully planned the killings, prosecutors argued.

Clancy was set to return to court in Plymouth on Friday morning, according to court reports.

A day earlier, defense attorney Kevin Reddington claimed in court that one of the 12 jurors in the murder trial “refuses to listen to the law,” according to court reports.

Reddington fought Thursday for Judge William Sullivan to remove the lone juror, according to court proceedings. The request was struck down, court reports indicated.

Outside the courtroom, Reddington insisted the matter was not over, according to reports.

The defense lawyer announced there would be an “inquiry” by the judge at 9 a.m. Friday, according to statements made outside court.

“I don’t know what the question is going to be,” Reddington said, adding, “We will have an argument about it … I think it will be in open court.”

Reddington arrived at court Friday morning wearing a black suit, according to reporters.

While the courthouse door was still locked, the attorney was banging against it, eager to get inside, according to reports.

“Nothing is ever my fault… Be happy it’s Friday,” Reddington said to reporters outside the courthouse.

Tracey Wright, 54, a supporter from Cape Cod, appeared outside the courthouse Friday, according to The Post.

“I’m feeling hopeful. While the things that happened yesterday pertaining to one juror have caused disruption, I’m hopeful for something positive to come out of it,” Wright told The Post.

The defense attorney maintained before the panel that Clancy should be found not guilty by reason of insanity, according to court arguments.

The jury remained in deliberations for a seventh day Friday to decide whether the mother should be held criminally responsible, according to court records.
