A Fresno ex-con was arrested after officers uncovered firearms and tactical gear during a home search, police said.
Khamprasong Thammavong, 33, lives in Fresno, California.
In March 2016, Fresno police arrested the 33-year-old after building a case around suspected criminal activity tied to him, police said.
Investigators attached alleged gang ties to the probe, according to police.
Officers subsequently conducted a search of his home, police said.
That search turned up a semi-automatic rifle and a semi-automatic handgun, according to police.
Officers also found tactical gear inside the residence, police said.
Thammavong already had a prior felony conviction on his record, court records show. That conviction legally barred him from owning any guns at all, police said.
The discovery of the weapons turned the search into a felon-in-possession charge, police said. The charge came on top of whatever else the investigation uncovered, according to authorities.

A mugshot taken during booking quickly made the arrest go viral, according to reports.
Fresno police posted the booking photograph directly to Facebook themselves, authorities said.
The photograph showed the suspect’s face covered in tattoos from edge to edge, according to police.
Dense linework covered his cheeks, scalp, and neck, the booking photograph showed.
The phrase “speak no evil” was tattooed across his upper lip, according to the photograph.
The word “eye” was worked directly into his eyebrows, the photograph showed.
Both of the suspect’s lips were inked solid black, according to the image.
News coverage at the time compared the attention surrounding the photograph to the earlier Jeremy Meeks “Hot Felon” case, reports indicated.
The photo became the focus for many online viewers. What kept the matter from remaining just a viral image was the stash of weapons found alongside the tattoos, police said.
Fresno court records show the case did not end at the initial arrest. Later court filings included probation matters and at least one newer felony case tied to Thammavong, according to court records.
