BELIEVE IT OR NOT, FEDERAL PROSECUTORS SAY A 16-YEAR-OLD BOY SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AND INTENTIONALLY KILLED HIS 18-YEAR-OLD STEPSISTER ABOARD A CRUISE SHIP BOUND FOR MIAMI… AND HIS ATTORNEYS ARE NOW ASKING A FEDERAL JUDGE TO POSTPONE HIS SEPTEMBER TRIAL AS HE FACES UP TO LIFE IN PRISON.
A 16-year-old accused of sexually assaulting and killing his 18-year-old stepsister aboard a Carnival cruise ship is asking a federal judge for more time before facing trial.
Timothy Hudson is charged as an adult in connection with the November 2025 death of his stepsister, Anna Kepner.
Federal prosecutors have charged Hudson with first-degree murder.
Hudson is also charged with aggravated sexual abuse.
According to federal prosecutors, Hudson sexually assaulted and intentionally killed Kepner while aboard the Carnival Horizon.
The alleged crimes occurred while the vessel was traveling through international waters toward Miami.
Kepner’s body was reportedly discovered by a housekeeper underneath a bed in the ship cabin she shared with Hudson.
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner determined that Kepner died from mechanical asphyxiation.
In February, Hudson was initially charged as a juvenile.
The case remained sealed while authorities handled the matter in juvenile court.
But the case was unsealed after a federal judge approved transferring Hudson for prosecution as an adult.
Then a federal grand jury indicted Hudson on the two felony charges.
Now his defense attorneys want his September trial postponed.
The defense says additional time is necessary to investigate issues surrounding Hudson’s age and juvenile status.
His attorneys also cited what they described as a “unique and very unfortunate family dynamic” created by the allegations.
Lawyers for the teenager say they have limited access to certain family members who could assist their investigation.
The defense team stated that although progress has been made, “more still needs to be done.”
If convicted of the federal charges, Hudson faces up to life in prison.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
