On January 7, 2022, police officers responded to a shooting near Summit View Court in Snellville, Georgia.

Upon arrival, officers discovered one man dead from a gunshot wound.

A second man was found seriously injured at the scene.

The deceased victim was identified as 28-year-old Tewodros “Teddy” Haile.

The surviving victim was identified as 36-year-old Fahmi Omer Ahmed.

Ahmed had been shot six times during the incident.

Haile had just left a friend’s home when the gunfire erupted.

He was preparing to drive away at the moment the shooting occurred.

Investigators found Haile with a duffel bag containing marijuana.

Police said both Haile and Ahmed were armed at the time.

Witnesses told investigators that two men dressed in black opened fire.

Both shooters were wearing black masks.

Witnesses reported that the gunmen fled the scene in a white SUV.

Investigators determined that the white SUV was a rental vehicle.

Detectives then used license plate reader cameras to track the vehicle’s movements.

And that investigation eventually led authorities more than 1,000 miles away to Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The suspects were identified as then-19-year-old Salih Ahmad Abdi and then-19-year-old Abdulrahman Munye Haji-Sufi.

Minneapolis investigators identified both men as members of the Somalian Outlawz criminal street gang.

A police gang expert described Abdi and Haji-Sufi as paid hitmen used by the gang organization.

Investigators also linked the pair to a shooting that occurred on January 1, 2022, in Fayetteville, Georgia.

Authorities further connected the two suspects to another shooting in San Diego, California.

Investigators also identified the person driving the SUV used during the Snellville shooting.

Police identified the driver as a member of Chicago’s Black Disciples street gang.

But that person has since died.

On February 14, 2022, Abdi and Haji-Sufi were arrested in Covina, California.

They were found inside a vehicle containing disassembled gun parts.

Those parts were connected to the shooting in San Diego.

On August 28, 2026, now-24-year-old Abdi and 24-year-old Haji-Sufi pleaded guilty in court.

Both men entered guilty pleas to two counts of violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

They also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault.

Additionally, both defendants pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Both men were sentenced to 40 years.

Haji-Sufi was ordered to serve 25 years in prison.

Abdi was ordered to serve 30 years in prison.
