A divorce hearing at an Indiana courthouse allegedly turned into an attempted murder just minutes after an estranged couple walked outside.
On August 24, Adriana Cisneros Velazquez and her soon-to-be ex-husband had just attended a divorce hearing at the Lake County Government Center in Crown Point, Indiana, according to court records.
Shortly after 3 p.m., a witness reportedly saw Velazquez leave the courthouse and get into her vehicle.
Her husband was nearby on his motorcycle.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the witness told investigators that Velazquez spotted him.
Then she accelerated her vehicle and aimed directly toward him, the witness told investigators.
The vehicle struck the man and his motorcycle with enough force to launch him into the air, according to authorities.
Velazquez’s vehicle then crashed and became immobilized.
But police say the confrontation still was not over.
Velazquez allegedly climbed out of her disabled vehicle.
She produced a knife and went after her husband, authorities say.
Authorities say she stabbed him in the bicep before he managed to disarm her.
Witnesses eventually intervened.
And witnesses helped break up the confrontation until police arrived.
Both Velazquez and her husband were transported to a hospital.
Police said the husband suffered a stab wound, a sprained wrist and multiple cuts and scrapes after being struck and dragged by the vehicle.
Velazquez was subsequently arrested.
