A 23-year-old Racine man is facing an attempted murder charge.
Police say he shot his ex-girlfriend and chased her into an auto shop.
Luke Greuel, 23, is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
He is also charged with armed burglary.
Greuel faces an additional charge of pointing a firearm at another person.
Video provided by the victim’s family reportedly captured the woman running from a home.
Gunshots were heard before she fled.
The recording showed her screaming for help.
She was warning that Greuel had a gun.
Then she ran into Stu’s Auto Services.
The business is located on Washington Avenue.
Owner Stuart Brown said Greuel followed her inside.
Brown said Greuel was carrying a pistol.
Brown said the woman was knocked down inside the business.
She was pistol-whipped repeatedly.
Another employee tried to intervene.
But Greuel allegedly pointed the gun directly at that worker.
And he later pointed the gun at Brown.
Police say Greuel also stabbed the woman in the head with a screwdriver.
He was arrested at the scene.
Greuel allegedly admitted to shooting her.
The victim had already been running for her life after being shot.
She made it into the business screaming for help.
Police say he followed her inside armed and kept attacking her.
The victim survived.
She is recovering.
Greuel’s bond was set at $100,000 cash.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 2.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
