A Louisiana mother and father left their 4-year-old child unattended for hours to attend an LSU football game after he consumed a THC gummy, police said.
Mary Cormier, 36, and David Butt, 34, were arrested by the Scott Police Department.
The parents allegedly knew the 4-year-old had ingested the THC-infused gummy before they departed, police said.
Instead of seeking medical attention, the couple allegedly left the child with another juvenile for approximately eight hours, according to investigators.
The adults chose to attend the game rather than get treatment for the youngster, police alleged.
When Cormier and Butt eventually returned to the residence, they reportedly found the 4-year-old unresponsive.

The child was rushed to a local hospital, according to officials.
He remained in the intensive care unit following the incident, officials said.

Following the investigation, Scott Police booked both adults on multiple offenses.
Cormier and Butt were each charged with second-degree cruelty to juveniles and child desertion.
Each parent was also charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Both suspects were later released from custody after posting bond.
