Iowa Man Facing Attempted Murder Charge After Allegedly Firing Multiple Shots Into Driver’s Door

BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY AN IOWA MAN FIRED MULTIPLE SHOTS INTO A VEHICLE’S DRIVER’S DOOR FOLLOWING A CRASH… AND HE IS NOW FACING AN ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE.

Andy G. Simmons, 35, is a resident of Princeton, Iowa.

Simmons was already facing charges in connection with an August shooting at a Clinton Kwik Star.

Now, he is facing an attempted murder charge.

Court records say officers were initially called to the Burger King next to the Kwik Star.

Police responded after Simmons reported that a white vehicle had crashed into his vehicle.

Simmons allegedly told police he did not know the other driver.

He claimed to officers that he fired in self-defense.

But investigators say the other driver had parked in front of the Burger King after the collision.

Then Simmons allegedly got out of his vehicle.

Simmons then allegedly fired multiple shots into the driver’s door.

Police say Simmons later spoke further with officers at the scene.

Police say Simmons later told officers he had “shot the driver of the white excursion and he was not going to live.”

Authorities subsequently conducted a search of Simmons’ vehicle.

Authorities found three firearms inside Simmons’ vehicle.

Yet despite the gunfire, no one was injured.

Simmons was previously charged with felony intimidation with a dangerous weapon.

He now faces additional attempted murder-related charges.

Simmons has been additionally charged with attempted murder.

He has been additionally charged with going armed with intent.

He has been additionally charged with carrying a loaded gun within city limits.

Simmons claimed he fired in self-defense.

Simmons is charged, not convicted.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
