“I WAS ON MY MEDICATION AND I CANNOT REMEMBER BECAUSE I OFTEN BLACK OUT”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY A FLORIDA MAN LEFT HIS CRITICALLY INJURED 81-YEAR-OLD MOTHER ON THE FLOOR IN A POOL OF BLOOD… AND BOTH HE AND HIS WIFE ARE NOW JAILED ON BATTERY CHARGES.
Deputies in Osceola County, Florida, were dispatched to a local medical rehabilitation center after an 81-year-old patient was brought in for treatment.
The injured woman was identified as the mother of 56-year-old Raymond Sutherland.
According to a news release from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the woman had fallen inside her home.
Following the fall, she repeatedly asked her son for assistance to get back on her feet.
She asked him several times for help.
At some point during the incident, she lost consciousness.
She was ultimately discovered lying on the floor in a pool of her own blood.
Deputies subsequently questioned Sutherland about how his mother had sustained her injuries.
Investigators asked him directly whether he had hurt his mother.
Sutherland told deputies that he was on medication and could not remember.
He stated to investigators that he often blacks out.

But the medical staff treating the 81-year-old woman presented a different assessment to law enforcement.
Physicians who treated her told investigators that her injuries were consistent with abuse, not a fall.
The woman was listed in critical condition.
And authorities subsequently placed Raymond Sutherland under arrest on multiple counts.
Raymond Sutherland was charged with battery on a person over 65.
He was charged with aggravated battery on a person over 65.
Authorities also charged him with aggravated abuse of an elderly person.
He was further charged with neglect of an elderly person with great harm.
His wife, 54-year-old Debbie Sutherland, was also charged by law enforcement.
Debbie Sutherland was charged with battery on a person over 65.
Then both suspects were processed into custody.
Both Raymond Sutherland and Debbie Sutherland were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
