BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY 19-YEAR-OLD CONVICTED KILLER KARMELO ANTHONY WAS SENTENCED TO 35 YEARS FOR A FATAL 2025 HIGH SCHOOL TRACK MEET STABBING… AND HIS FAMILY IS NOW ASKING SUPPORTERS FOR $250,000 TO FUND HIS APPEAL AFTER A JUDGE REJECTED A NEW TRIAL.

Karmelo Anthony’s family is asking supporters to fork over $250,000 to pay for his legal appeal.
The request comes after a Texas judge shot down his request for a new trial.
Anthony is currently serving prison time as a convicted killer.
The new appeal campaign is being run through GiveSendGo.
That GiveSendGo fundraiser has already raised $27,000 from grassroots supporters.
Those grassroots donations have been contributed on behalf of the 19-year-old.
In June, Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
That sentence followed the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf.
The fatal stabbing of Metcalf took place at a high school track meet in 2025.
The track meet was held in Frisco.
On Wednesday, family spokesperson Dominique Alexander spoke to reporters about the need for appeal funds.
“We understand that the pursuit of justice through the appellate system requires tremendous resources. This is why the legal fund has been established,” family spokesperson Dominique Alexander told reporters on Wednesday.
This is not the first time Anthony’s family has turned to online crowdfunding for his case.
The Anthony family had already raised more than $600,000 in another GiveSendGo fundraiser.
That previous campaign was taken down the day after his conviction.
GiveSendGo addressed the disbursement of those initial funds in an official statement.
“This fundraiser was created to support pre-trial needs, and those funds were disbursed over the past year for lawful purposes including legal defense and family relocation,” the organization said in a statement.
Then last month, a Collin County judge denied Anthony’s motion for a new trial.
The hearing on that motion dragged out evidence that had previously been kept under wraps.

That evidence had remained hidden via a handshake deal between the prosecution and defense.
Anthony had a history of violent, threatening texts, attorneys claimed.
His ex-girlfriend also reported that he had been stalking her shortly before the stabbing, attorneys claimed.
In exchange for keeping those claims out of court, the defense agreed to make concessions.
The defense agreed to not mention Metcalf’s criminal record during the trial.
Metcalf’s criminal record stemmed from racist graffiti.
Metcalf and two others had allegedly spray-painted the racist graffiti.
But last-minute squabbles arose over the handshake deal.
Those disagreements reportedly forced Anthony’s lawyers to keep him from taking the witness stand.
Keeping Anthony off the stand effectively sank his case, his new legal team argued during the hearing for retrial.
Anthony’s co-counsel Sean Daredia also addressed reporters on Wednesday.
“So much evidence came out. That evidence showed not only this family but the entire world that he did not receive a fair trial,” Anthony’s co-counsel Sean Daredia told reporters on Wednesday.
Anthony’s father Andrew Anthony then took the mic to thank all the “angels around here” for their ongoing support.
“We want to thank everybody, from the internet family to our personal family,” Andrew Anthony said.
Yet his defense team warned that the appellate route will be extended.
The appeals process could stretch into next year, his team said.
His team added that it could take much longer if a new trial is granted.
His motion for a new trial stands denied.
His 35-year prison term remains in effect.
His family is asking for $250,000.
