Disturbing motive revealed after Wisconsin dad cited for tripping 9-year-old football player in Racine

A youth league football game in Wisconsin was interrupted on Saturday when an adult spectator stepped onto the field.

The incident occurred during an under-10s contest between the Milwaukee Colts and the Case Eagles in Racine, Wisconsin, CBS58 reported.

A nine-year-old Eagles football player, wearing jersey No. 88, was rushing with the ball toward the end zone to score a touchdown.

Footage captured an adult supporter of the Milwaukee Colts taking matters into his own hands as the play unfolded.

The man extended his left leg outward into the path of the young ballcarrier.

His foot tripped the athlete as the child sprinted down the field.

Both the young boy and the adult tumbled directly to the ground.

Game officials immediately halted play on the field.

Mount Pleasant police said the suspect was a 41-year-old man who walked out onto the playing surface when he “became upset over a play.”

The man then fled from the football field following the encounter.

Police subsequently conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle.

During the stop, the 41-year-old man admitted to his actions on the field, according to police.

Mount Pleasant police officers then issued the man a citation for disorderly conduct.

Case Eagles head coach Channing Schultz confirmed that the nine-year-old boy was okay after the fall.

Schultz expressed fury regarding the sequence that took place during the youth game.

“I was filled with anger, it was disgusting,” Schultz told CBS.

“It was the most cowardly act I’ve ever seen,” the coach said.

“For him to just do it with so much intent and he was committed,” Schultz added.

“No words can fix that at all,” he stated to the outlet.

Coach Schultz noted relief that the child avoided severe physical injury on the play.

“The way he kicked my little guy,” the coach told WISN.

“His leg could’ve broke,” Schultz said.

“His shin could’ve broke,” he added regarding the force of the trip.

Other parents who attended the Saturday youth game expressed shock over the adult’s intervention.

“There is fear playing a game like that and with youth sports, it should be fun,” one woman told WISN.

“It shouldn’t be fearful at all,” she added.

An official for the Milwaukee Colts team confirmed to CBS that the man has been banned from attending games for the “remainder of the season.”

Coach Schultz, however, called for the parent to receive a lifetime ban from the league.

Mount Pleasant police have not publicly released the identity of the 41-year-old suspect.

The decision not to name the man left social media users bewildered after they viewed the penalty as lenient.

“He assaulted a child you should at least refer up charges to the DA for battery, attempted battery, reckless endangering safety,” one user wrote under the police department’s press release post.

“This is a weak charge, more should be done,” the user continued.

“It’s disgusting what this country is coming to,” another commenter wrote.

“How do we expect anything better from children,” the comment stated.

“A grown man against a 9 year old?!” a third viewer wrote online.

“The way that went down it’s lucky the kid didn’t have a spine injury!” the user penned.

“This guy needs assault charges filed and a permanent record!” the post argued.

Another user on Facebook stated that the parent “needs to pay the price” for what occurred during the matchup.

“This is absolutely abhorrent, ridiculous and not OK,” she wrote.

“We will find out who you are,” the post added.

“You’re a disgrace and embarrassment,” the user said.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
