“I AM LEAVING WITH MY BAG”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY BOB JOHNNY GUZMAN SOTO KILLED HIS MOTHER IN THEIR BRONX APARTMENT AND FLED… AND HE WAS ARRESTED DAYS LATER AFTER A PASSERBY SPOTTED HIM FROM SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE.
On Friday, police responded to a residence in the Concourse Village area of the Bronx.
Officers arrived at the apartment on Grand Concourse near East 168th Street at around 3:30 p.m.
Inside the shared home, they found 57-year-old Josefa Soto De Carmen unresponsive.
She had been left bloodied and battered on a couch.
Police said the victim was covered in blood when they arrived.
Authorities noted that she had suffered trauma to her head and torso.
Emergency medical services workers arrived at the apartment shortly after police.
EMS personnel pronounced Soto De Carmen dead at the scene.
According to police, her son fled the scene after the fatal assault.
Authorities identified the suspect as 33-year-old Bob Johnny Guzman Soto.
It remained unclear what, if any, weapons were used during the deadly assault.
Investigators sought the public’s assistance in locating the victim’s son.
On Monday, the NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect to the media.
The video clip showed Guzman Soto wheeling a suitcase through a building lobby.

Police confirmed that the footage captured the last known sighting of him.
It was unclear whether the video had been recorded inside the residence he shared with his mother.
Then came a tip from the street.
On Tuesday, a passerby spotted Guzman Soto out in public.
The pedestrian recognized the 33-year-old from the footage the NYPD had distributed.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect was arrested shortly after that sighting.
Officers took him into custody at West 170th Street and Edward L. Grant Highway.
Following the arrest, authorities formally lodged criminal charges against him.
Bob Johnny Guzman Soto was charged with murder in the death of his mother.
Police said he was also charged with manslaughter.
And authorities charged him with criminal possession of a weapon.
According to authorities, Guzman Soto has no previous arrests.
His arraignment was pending on Wednesday.
They had the footage.
They had the suspect.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
