An Alabama Police Officer Faces DUI Charge Weeks After Domestic Violence Arrest, Police Say

Officer John Holliday is employed by the Huntsville Police Department in Alabama, according to the agency.

On Thursday, Holliday was arrested in Madison County on a driving under the influence charge, according to police.

The Thursday arrest came less than three weeks after the officer was arrested on a separate charge in another jurisdiction, police said.

On Aug. 17, Holliday was arrested in Limestone County on a domestic violence charge, police said.

Holliday was off duty at the time of the August arrest, the Huntsville Police Department said. Following that incident, the department said he would be placed on administrative duty after his release while investigators looked into the case, according to police.

The officer was arrested a second time before that initial internal process had even played out, the department said.

The two criminal cases against Holliday are completely unrelated, Huntsville police confirmed.

Separate criminal and internal administrative processes concerning the officer are currently ongoing, according to the department.

Despite the back-to-back arrests within weeks, Holliday remains employed by the City of Huntsville, officials confirmed. The officer is currently placed on administrative leave, police said.

Holliday is accused in both matters and has not been convicted in either case, according to the department.

Both cases remain pending while separate criminal and internal administrative reviews continue, police said.
