BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY A FLORIDA WOMAN SHOT HER LIVE-IN BOYFRIEND TO DEATH IN BED AFTER HE TOLD HER TO SHOOT HIM… AND SHE HAS NOW BEEN ARRESTED ON A SECOND-DEGREE MURDER CHARGE.

On August 31, 2026, deputies responded to a home at 1100 Meadows Drive in Starke, Florida.
The call brought deputies to the address at around 5:30 a.m.
A man had contacted dispatchers to report that his mother had killed her live-in boyfriend.
Authorities said that 911 call came from the adult son of 42-year-old Stephanie Michelle Johnson.
His sister had contacted him first.
She told him their mother had killed Wroblewski.
Deputies arrived at the residence at approximately 5:33 a.m.
They found Johnson outside the residence.
Before being interviewed, Johnson allegedly made a spontaneous statement saying, “It’s me, and we have been fighting for the last days.”
Deputies then moved to detain her.
As deputies detained her, Johnson allegedly made another spontaneous statement.
She allegedly said she should not have done it.
And she said she should have talked to her son instead.
Upon arrival, deputies entered the residence.
They found a man lying on a bed with a gunshot wound to the right side of his abdomen.
Deputies moved him from the bed.
They immediately began lifesaving measures.
But he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 41-year-old David James Wroblewski.
Investigators recovered a firearm from the residence.
Authorities said younger children were inside the residence during the incident.
An older child was away from the home.
Johnson remained at the scene during the investigation.
Detectives then interviewed Johnson about the shooting.
During the interview, Johnson told detectives she and Wroblewski had been in a relationship for approximately four years.
She said they lived together.
Johnson said the relationship had initially been good.
Yet she said it had recently deteriorated.
Johnson told investigators Wroblewski had been screaming at her throughout the night on August 28, 2026.
The couple continued arguing over the following days.
According to court documents, Johnson had difficulty providing detectives with a clear chronological account of everything that occurred during that period.
The confrontation extended into August 31, 2026.
Johnson said she and Wroblewski were lying in bed during the confrontation on that morning.
She also told investigators that she and Wroblewski had been naked because they had sex earlier.
Johnson told investigators she reached for a firearm that was sitting on a nightstand.
According to Johnson’s account, Wroblewski told her to shoot him.
Then she pulled the trigger.
The shot struck Wroblewski in the abdomen.
Johnson reportedly told investigators that after the shooting, she noticed a burning smell.
She said she became increasingly anxious.
Johnson said she took a diazepam pill.
She smoked part of a marijuana joint belonging to Wroblewski.
According to court documents, Johnson said she put Wroblewski’s underwear back on him after shooting him.
During the interview, Johnson told detectives she had not been afraid for her life when she shot Wroblewski.
She also said Wroblewski had never been physically violent toward her.
She had reached for the firearm on the nightstand.
She had pulled the trigger while lying in bed.
On August 31, 2026, at 11:44 a.m., Johnson was formally arrested.
She was charged with second-degree murder.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
