Chilling details released after Pennsylvania officer Sean Farrell charged with manslaughter in student Glenwood Pysher's death

Glenwood “Bubba” Pysher IV was 22 years old and preparing to begin his senior year at Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey.

His family and friends knew him as “Bubba.”

On August 22, Pysher had been out celebrating a friend’s 21st birthday.

A designated driver drove the group to a friend’s home.

Later that night, around 11:30 p.m., Pysher left the residence on foot.

He walked about half a mile toward another friend’s house.

But Pysher never arrived at his intended destination.

Instead, he mistakenly reached the back patio of a completely different home.

The residents called 911 after seeing someone near their back door.

On August 23, Upper Pottsgrove Police Cpl. Sean Farrell arrived first at the property around 12:30 a.m.

Farrell was 58 years old.

His department bodycam recorded what happened next.

Footage showed Farrell walk down the driveway with his gun drawn.

He took cover behind a parked car.

From behind the vehicle, Farrell ordered Pysher to show his hands and get on the ground.

Pysher raised both hands.

He then walked toward Farrell.

Investigators say Farrell again ordered him to get on the ground.

Then Farrell began shouting a warning.

Investigators say Farrell began saying, “Stop or I’ll…” and fired before finishing the sentence.

He fired two shots.

Both bullets struck Pysher in the chest.

The gunfire killed him.

Investigators said Pysher was 17 to 20 feet away when Farrell opened fire.

Both of Pysher’s hands were raised.

He was unarmed.

Police searched the scene and found no weapon.

Farrell had a Taser on his belt throughout the encounter.

Prosecutors say he never used it.

Farrell later spoke to another officer at the scene.

He told the officer that Pysher charged him while screaming and refused to get down.

Yet Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said the bodycam did not support that account.

Steele said the footage did not show Pysher charging.

The recording showed no aggressive actions from the 22-year-old student.

Instead, Steele said the video showed Pysher with his hands raised, unarmed and posing no threat.

On September 1, Farrell was charged with voluntary manslaughter.

Farrell surrendered to Montgomery County detectives that same day.

A judge set his bail at $75,000.

The judge ordered him to surrender his weapons.

Available reports confirm that bail was set.

Those reports do not confirm that he posted it.

The court scheduled his preliminary hearing for September 10.

Farrell is charged, not convicted.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
