“I CAN TAKE HER HOME”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, INVESTIGATORS SAY A BALTIMORE POLICE OFFICER WAS GIVEN PERMISSION BY HIS SUPERVISOR TO DRIVE A WOMAN SAFELY HOME WHILE ON DUTY… BUT INSTEAD HE ALLEGEDLY ENTERED HER APARTMENT AND RAPED HER… AND AUTHORITIES SAY DNA EVIDENCE CONCLUSIVELY LINKED HIM TO THE ASSAULT.

A Baltimore police officer has been arrested following an investigation into an on-duty sexual assault.
Authorities identified the officer as Daniel Oxendine.
On August 27, Oxendine was taken into custody.
The arrest followed a months-long investigation conducted by the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.
That investigation began on June 3.
On that date, a woman reported to law enforcement that she had been sexually assaulted.
Authorities learned that Oxendine had encountered the woman while working in Baltimore City.
He had encountered her while responding to an unrelated call.
The woman reportedly needed transportation back to her home in Edgewood.
She asked the officer for a ride.
Oxendine’s supervisor allegedly gave him permission to drive her home.
But investigators say what happened after they arrived was anything but the safe ride home she had requested.
According to authorities, Oxendine allegedly entered the woman’s apartment.

Investigators say he then sexually assaulted her.
The woman subsequently underwent a sexual assault examination.
During that examination, medical evidence was collected for DNA testing.
Investigators say the DNA test results came back conclusively identifying Oxendine as the alleged offender.
Oxendine now faces multiple criminal charges in connection with the incident.
He is charged with two counts of first-degree rape.
He faces two counts of second-degree rape.
Authorities also charged him with two counts involving a law enforcement officer engaging in a sexual act with a victim or witness.
He faces one count of burglary with intent to commit rape.
Oxendine is also charged with misconduct in office.
His police powers had already been suspended prior to his arrest.
Following his arrest, the Baltimore Police Department said Oxendine was suspended without pay.
And investigators say they believe there could potentially be additional offenses connected to Oxendine.
Detectives are reviewing evidence with other law enforcement agencies.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
