A Maine man allegedly assaulted his wife and threatened her by pointing a gun at her during a domestic violence incident, police said.
John Bechard, 32, of Maine, is facing criminal charges after troopers were called to a Limington home, according to state police.
State troopers responded to the home in Limington on Tuesday evening, police said. Bechard was already gone by the time troopers arrived at the scene, according to investigators.
His wife told investigators that her husband had allegedly assaulted her during the domestic incident, police said.
The woman reported that Bechard pointed a firearm at her while threatening her, according to police.

The suspect apparently did not stay gone for long, police said. State troopers located Bechard the following morning in Hiram and took him into custody, according to authorities.
The 32-year-old was booked on charges of domestic violence assault and domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, police said.
Bechard also faces charges of domestic violence reckless conduct, criminal restraint and operating with a suspended registration, according to police.
The charges against the husband remain allegations, and the investigation is still ongoing, police said.
Bechard was booked into the York County Jail, where he is behind bars, police said.
