A Georgia mother and father were arrested after their infant was rushed to the hospital with several skull fractures, authorities said.
Santos Velez, 41, and Kellie Velez, 37, are the parents facing charges in the case, according to investigators.
Earlier this month, the baby was initially rushed to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, officials said.
Doctors at the Albany facility examined the infant and discovered fractures to the child’s skull, according to authorities.
The infant was then flown to Atlanta for additional treatment, police said. The child remains alive and is recovering at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Investigators said both parents are responsible for the child’s injuries. Available reporting does not describe exactly how authorities believe the fractures occurred.
Both parents were arrested and charged with cruelty to children, according to law enforcement.
The father was additionally charged with aggravated battery, authorities said.
The mother faces a charge of aggravated battery as a party to a crime, officials said.
Both are currently being held at the Dougherty County Jail, records show.
