An Arizona man facing 10 child exploitation felonies collapsed at a courtroom podium during an initial appearance where prosecutors warned he could face up to a century in prison, authorities said.
Joshua James Lozano, 42, appeared before a judge for the proceeding, court records show.
The defendant physically collapsed at the podium before the hearing could conclude, according to officials.
Lozano had been standing before the court during the 5 a.m. proceeding as prosecutors laid out his potential prison exposure. He then became physically incapacitated, requiring jail medical personnel to respond, court records show.
On September 10, Glendale police arrested the suspect after investigating multiple CyberTips involving suspected child sexual abuse material, police said.
Records obtained from Verizon Wireless and Metronet connected the relevant account, phone number and IP addresses to Lozano, authorities said.
Investigators also uncovered evidence that the defendant allegedly communicated with minors online, prosecutors said.
Lozano faces 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, prosecutors said.

Each felony count potentially carries 10 years in prison, prosecutors told the court.
If maximum sentences were imposed consecutively following convictions on every count, the suspect could face up to 100 years, prosecutors said.
During the morning appearance, prosecutors requested a $150,000 cash bond along with strict restrictions on his internet access, court records state. The defense countered by requesting a $50,000 secured bond with electronic monitoring.
The judge cited extraordinary circumstances and temporarily recessed the proceeding after the defendant collapsed, court records show.

If released, Lozano will be required to wear an electronic monitor and have no contact with minors, according to court conditions. The defendant is also barred from possessing a smartphone or accessing the internet except as necessary for his legal case.
The suspect remains accused and has not been convicted of the charges, records state.
Lozano remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on September 21, court records show.
