Las Vegas suspect Juan Carlos Orona accused of shooting his girlfriend and her two children is held without bail

Juan Carlos Orona, 29, had been staying at the residence in the 5100 block of O’Bannon Drive in Las Vegas, according to court documents.

On September 1, 2026, officers arrived at the apartment at around 7:10 p.m. after receiving an emergency call, police said.

Officers forced entry into the residence upon arrival, according to authorities.

Inside the apartment, officers found a woman, a teenage girl and a young boy suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

Authorities identified the woman as 41-year-old Nohani Flores Osuna, police said.

Her children were identified as 16-year-old Maiya Deleon Flores and 7-year-old Noah Morales Flores, according to officials.

Osuna had been dating Orona for approximately three to six months, investigators said.

Orona told detectives he had helped her obtain the apartment and was paying the rent, according to the arrest report.

Osuna had previously been involved with another man before beginning a relationship with Orona earlier in 2026, the suspect told detectives.

On the day of the killings, Orona allegedly saw Osuna’s vehicle parked at the same location as her former boyfriend’s car, according to court documents.

The suspect later confronted Osuna at the apartment and accused her of cheating on him, police said.

According to the arrest report, Orona told detectives Osuna admitted she had been having sex with her former boyfriend. She told Orona that the other man was “better in bed,” the report states.

Orona claimed to investigators that he then “blacked out,” according to the document.

Orona told detectives that when he became aware of his surroundings again, he was inside the bathroom holding his 9mm handgun, according to the arrest report. Osuna and her two children were lying on the floor, police said.

The defendant allegedly told detectives he vaguely remembered Osuna and the children yelling or moving toward him during the blackout, police said. However, he told investigators he could not remember exactly what happened, according to court documents.

The suspect did not deny shooting the three victims during his interview, detectives said. But he told investigators he could not tell who he shot first, according to the report.

Crime scene investigators recovered 10 spent 9mm cartridge casings inside the apartment, police said.

No firearm was found inside the residence near Osuna or either of the children, authorities said.

Orona told detectives he had brought his gun because he was concerned Osuna’s former boyfriend could come to the apartment and harm him, according to court records.

Following the gunfire, Orona contacted his father and told him he had “hurt” his girlfriend and her children, police said.

The father told Orona that he needed to turn himself in, according to investigators.

Orona’s father and brother then drove him to a police substation located on East Harmon Avenue, authorities said.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., Orona placed a 911 call from the substation parking lot and reported that he had shot his girlfriend and her children, according to police.

When he surrendered, Orona was suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen, authorities said. Officials described the injury as non-life-threatening, though they have not publicly determined whether the wound was self-inflicted, police said.

The defendant was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where medical staff treated and released him, according to police.

Investigators searched Orona’s pickup truck and recovered a handgun inside a backpack, court documents state.

Following his release from the hospital, Orona was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, police said.

Prosecutors charged Orona with three counts of open murder with a deadly weapon and 10 counts of discharging a firearm within an occupied structure, according to court records.

During an initial court appearance on September 3, 2026, a public defender requested additional time to review the case before bail was considered, court records show.

Orona remains held without bail and is scheduled to return to court on September 9, according to court records.
