A former Virginia preschool teacher has been sentenced to 565 years in prison for crimes targeting children, prosecutors said.

The defendant, Richard Franklin Troshak III, was employed at the Chesterfield Early Childhood Learning Academy, records show.
Troshak pleaded guilty to charges involving CSAM, according to court documents.
His offenses targeted his own students while he was working at the academy, prosecutors said. His position gave him access to the very children he targeted, authorities said.
A judge suspended 110 years of the total 565-year prison term. That ruling left the former teacher with 445 years of active prison time to serve, records show.
The investigation into Troshak also connected him to another former Chesterfield County educator, authorities said.

Shaun Jason Adams had previously worked alongside Troshak at a daycare, according to investigators.
Disturbing communications between the two men were uncovered during the course of the investigation, authorities said.
Investigators also discovered illegal material involving children along with recordings of children in private settings, according to authorities.
Adams separately pleaded guilty to producing and possessing illegal material involving children, records show.
Earlier this year, a judge sentenced Adams to 190 years in prison for his offenses.
The court suspended 160 years of that term. That decision left Adams with 30 years to serve behind bars, records show.
Troshak was left with 445 active years of prison time to serve, according to court records.
