Alabama Man Charged in Capital Murder of Ex-Girlfriend and Second Mother After Protection Orders Were Dismissed

Nalyn Reeves was nineteen years old.

She was a new mother.

Her baby was ten months old.

Undrea Willis was twenty-five years old.

Willis was also a mother.

On Monday, both women were inside a home in Montgomery, Alabama.

When an intruder arrived, the women locked the front door, according to police.

The killer then broke into the residence through a living room window.

Both mothers were shot inside the home in front of their children.

Both victims were declared dead at the scene.

Investigators identified twenty-year-old Tarus Giles as the accused shooter.

Giles was Reeves’s ex-boyfriend.

He was also the father of Reeves’s ten-month-old child.

According to AL.com, Giles allegedly murdered both women.

At the time of the fatal shootings, Giles was out on bond.

That release was tied to a third-degree burglary charge.

But Reeves had repeatedly sought protection from Giles in the year leading up to her death.

She had twice attempted to obtain protective orders against him.

Reeves warned repeatedly that she was terrified he was going to kill her.

“I am terrified of Tarus,” Reeves wrote in a filing just months before she was killed.

“I am afraid that he is eventually going to kill me or, worse, hurt my child.”

In September of last year, Reeves first sought a protection-from-abuse order against Giles.

In that September petition, Reeves accused Giles of beating her and threatening her life.

She was still pregnant with his child at the time of the alleged assault.

“Tarus physically beat me from 9 a.m.–11 a.m., blacked my eye, gave me knots, busted my nose,” she said in the filing, AL.com reported.

“Tarus has been threatening my family and I,” she said.

“He has told people when he finds me, he will kill me.”

According to court documents, Giles also threatened to kill Reeves and the unborn child.

The filing stated that Giles returned to the location armed with a knife.

Reeves managed to escape from the home.

She ran to a neighbor’s house for help, according to the document.

A court hearing on that restraining order was scheduled for November.

Yet neither Reeves nor Giles attended the November hearing.

Because neither party appeared, a judge dismissed the petition.

Reeves broke up with Giles following the birth of their baby.

In November, during the same month the initial case was dismissed, Reeves tried a second time to get protection from Giles.

She stated that an altercation occurred during their breakup.

Reeves claimed that Giles yanked one of her braids out of her head during the fight.

Then the second petition stalled in the legal system.

In April, that second restraining order was dismissed, court records show.

The dismissal occurred because the court papers were never served to Giles.

On Monday, both women were shot to death.

On Wednesday, law enforcement officers arrested Giles.

Giles was charged with four counts of capital murder in connection with the double homicide.

Prosecutors charged Giles with two counts of capital murder in the presence of a child under 14.

Prosecutors charged him with one count of capital murder of two or more people.

Prosecutors also charged him with one count of capital murder during a burglary.

Video posted by the Montgomery Police Department documented the arrest.

The footage showed the accused being hauled into a police cruiser in handcuffs.

The Montgomery Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Post.

Giles is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
