Officers noted that the sidewalk was busy at the time she was out walking.

The unprovoked incident was recorded on surveillance footage obtained by News 12.

According to the New York Police Department and the video recording, an unidentified assailant ran up to the senior.

A discarded baby crib had been left sitting on the sidewalk next to a public trash can.

The crib was filled with garbage.

Police reported that the attacker grabbed the discarded crib off the ground.

He then hurled the trash-filled crib directly at the 90-year-old pedestrian.

The impact knocked the woman to the ground, according to cops.

Surveillance video shows the victim falling on her side onto the pavement.

Garbage from the crib scattered across the sidewalk around the fallen senior.

Then the assailant ran away from the scene on foot.

Several other pedestrians were walking along the same block during the incident, according to the footage.

Two of those pedestrians stopped on the sidewalk to assist the nonagenarian.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Coney Island Hospital.

Medical staff listed the woman in stable condition following the assault.

Cops said the attacker threw the trash-filled crib at the 90-year-old woman while she was taking a stroll on Monday.

Yet no arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

The NYPD released a surveillance still photo of the suspect in hopes that someone might recognize him.

The released image shows the wanted individual wearing a blue hoodie.

The daytime assault comes amid an increase in violence against seniors across the city.

Older New Yorkers have fallen victim to assaults at a rampant rate this year, the NYPD previously told The Post.

Assaults against New Yorkers over 65 have spiked by 14 percent compared to last year, according to NYPD data obtained by The Post.

Those same figures show assaults on seniors have skyrocketed 143 percent over the same span in 2018.

And the department has highlighted repeat offenders as a primary factor in the surge.

The NYPD points to an “astronomical” 50 percent increase in recidivist attackers who have targeted the elderly this year.

Police noted that this figure refers specifically to perpetrators who reoffend within 30 days.
