“HE WILL NEVER FIGHT BACK”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY AN 18-YEAR-OLD MAN AND A 19-YEAR-OLD WOMAN CARRIED OUT AN UNPROVOKED AND SUSTAINED ATTACK ON A 78-YEAR-OLD STRANGER IN BROMLEY… AND BOTH SUSPECTS HAVE NOW BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH THE ASSAULT.

Police received an emergency call just after midnight on October 15 regarding an incident on Widmore Road in Bromley.
The street is located in South East London.
Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers found a 78-year-old man who had been badly beaten.
The victim was transported straight to a south London hospital for medical care.
Medical staff kept the injured man admitted overnight.
According to accounts of the incident, the 78-year-old victim did not know his attackers.
Detective Constable Rosemarie Lee was assigned as the investigating officer in the case.
Lee offered a direct summary of the late-night street violence.
“This was an unprovoked and sustained attack on an elderly gentleman,” Lee said.

The victim himself chose not to be publicly named following the incident.
But the elderly man was shaken enough by the encounter that he consented to assist investigators publicly.
He agreed to allow police to release a photograph showing his own severe injuries.
The released image documented his swollen eyes.
The photograph also captured his severely bruised face.
Officers distributed the image to the public as part of a formal appeal for witnesses.
And the investigation subsequently resulted in two arrests.
An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attack.
A 19-year-old woman was also arrested in connection with the incident.
Authorities have since formally charged both individuals.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
