“MY MOTHER IS DOING FINE AND I AM TAKING CARE OF HER”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, AUTHORITIES SAY 64-YEAR-OLD ALLEN PAGE NEGLECTED HIS 84-YEAR-OLD MOTHER UNTIL SHE WAS FOUND UNRESPONSIVE AND COVERED IN OPEN WOUNDS AND MAGGOTS IN A CHANDLER HOME⦠AND HE IS NOW FACING A SECOND-DEGREE MURDER CHARGE ON A $1 MILLION CASH BOND.

On September 19, 2025, a hospice nurse went to a home in Chandler, Arizona.
The nurse had arrived to evaluate an elderly woman.
Upon entering the residence, the nurse found the woman unresponsive.
Authorities later described the scene as extremely poor living conditions.
The woman was transported from the residence to a hospice facility.
She died at the facility the following day.
Authorities identified the victim as 84-year-old Mary Elenz.
Elenz had been living under the care of her 64-year-old son, Allen Page.
Authorities said Page was responsible for his mother’s personal care.
He was also responsible for managing her finances.
In addition, Page held his mother’s medical power of attorney.
Concerns regarding the care Elenz received reportedly stretched back several years.
Adult Protective Services first received a report involving possible abuse of Elenz on April 18, 2019.
At that time, her primary care doctor indicated that Elenz could no longer make complex or financial decisions for herself.
Additional reports regarding her care were submitted in 2019.
Further reports followed in 2020.
Another report was filed in 2023.
Authorities said the allegations in those reports could not be substantiated.
The agency closed each of the cases.
In February 2023, Page voluntarily assumed medical power of attorney for his mother.
In May 2025, Elenz was admitted to a hospital.
Hospital staff treated her for failure to thrive, malnutrition and other serious medical conditions.
She was subsequently released back home under Page’s care.
On September 18, 2025, Page contacted Hospice of the Valley.
He requested that the organization perform an evaluation for his mother.
The following day, a hospice nurse arrived at the home.
Upon arrival, the nurse found Elenz unresponsive.
According to court documents, the room where Elenz was found was filled with trash, flies and fleas.
A bowl of cat food was reportedly sitting on her bed.
Her blankets had become stuck to her skin.
Investigators said areas of her body that remained in contact with the mattress were covered in open wounds and maggots.
The nurse later became emotional while describing the conditions to investigators.
She called the scene the most horrific thing she had ever seen.
Elenz was transported directly to a hospice facility.
Staff members at the facility cleaned her and diagnosed her with protein-calorie malnutrition.

She died on September 20, 2025.
The Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner performed an examination.
The medical examiner determined Elenz died from pneumonia complicated by skin wounds.
Her manner of death was officially listed as undetermined.
Authorities said neglect played a significant role in her death.
Investigators said Page had repeatedly told relatives and others that his mother was doing fine.
But after her death, Page allegedly gave conflicting accounts to other people.
Page allegedly told some individuals that Elenz had died at home after they went out for his birthday dinner.
Elenz had in fact died at the hospice facility.
Investigators also interviewed Page’s wife.
Page’s wife reportedly told investigators that he did not change his mother’s diaper often enough.
She told detectives she did not know when Page had last bathed his mother.
She also described Page to investigators as a compulsive liar.
Authorities said Page gave inconsistent accounts about how frequently he changed his mother.
He also gave conflicting statements regarding when a nursing company had last visited the home.
Investigators learned Page had not worked since 2022.
Page was allegedly using Elenz’s monthly Social Security payments for his own expenses instead of her care.
Those payments amounted to approximately $1,567 each month.
Financial records allegedly showed the funds were transferred into Page’s account.
The money was quickly spent on mobile games and fast food.
Records also showed purchases for Spotify, gift cards and other personal expenses.
Investigators subsequently examined Page’s cellphone.
The examination revealed he sent more than 70 outgoing messages around the time his mother was discovered.
Many of those outgoing messages were sexually explicit.
Authorities also alleged Page sent a nude photograph of himself approximately one minute after the hospice nurse entered the home and encountered Elenz.
And after Elenz died, investigators said Page disposed of the bed and bedding before detectives could examine them.
During a search of the residence, authorities recovered four firearms.
Investigators said Page had initially claimed there were no guns inside the home.
Page was legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous felony conviction in New York.
On August 29, 2026, Page was arrested.
The arrest followed an investigation that lasted nearly one year.
He was charged with second-degree murder.
He was charged with intentional abuse of a vulnerable adult.
He was charged with four counts of misconduct involving weapons as a prohibited possessor.
Page was being held on a $1 million cash bond.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
