“GIVE ME THE KEYS”!!! BELIEVE IT OR NOT, POLICE SAY 20-YEAR-OLD ANGELO DREW MARTINEZ PULLED A FAKE WEAPON ON THREE TEENAGE FOOTBALL PLAYERS WHO GAVE HIM A RIDE, PROMPTING THE TEENS TO FIGHT BACK AND RESTRAIN HIM FOR OFFICERS.
On August 11, 2017, three teenage football players finished practice near the Loma Linda Community Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
A stranger approached the group and asked them for a ride.
Police identified the man as 20-year-old Angelo Drew Martinez.
The three teenagers agreed to give Martinez a ride in their vehicle.
During the drive, Martinez acted “sketchy,” according to police.
He continually changed his stated destination as they drove.
The car eventually came to a stop in front of a house.
Then Martinez pulled out a gun.
Martinez ordered all three teenagers to get out of the vehicle.
One of the teenagers noticed that Martinez was fumbling with the weapon.
Instead of complying with the order to exit, the teenager got back inside the car and punched Martinez in the face.
And the other two teenagers joined in to help subdue him.

The three teens physically restrained Martinez until police officers arrived at the scene.
Responding officers examined the firearm Martinez carried and determined the gun was not real.
Officers also discovered that Martinez was carrying a knife.
Along with the knife, Martinez was carrying a handwritten note.
The note stated: “Give me the keys to your wip (car) and a nobody get heart. I know where you live so don’t make me kill.”
Martinez was placed under arrest and formally charged by authorities.
He was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Martinez was also charged with attempt to commit a felony.
Police records indicated that Martinez had prior arrests for auto theft.
Those same law enforcement records documented prior arrests for shoplifting.
On August 17, 2017, Martinez was released from jail.
His release occurred six days after the reported attempted carjacking.
No public record was found regarding how the criminal case against Martinez was ultimately resolved.
The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
